My apologies for not sharing the rest of the country's enthusiasm about Obama.
Seriously, people. He's just a dude. A man. Just like Bush was and every president before them.
He is equally as subject to basic, innate human fallibility.
Look, I desperately hope that he doesn't break along the road, but sometimes there is just no amount of stamina that is enough.
Sure, he's arguably charismatic, a strong speaker, and perhaps a much shrewder political mind than Bush could ever hope to be, but come on. If, in four years, everyone is still all happy-cheery-optimistic-Obamafangirly, then I will be very, very shocked.
So, I know why I can't bring myself to do a Tom Cruise-esque couch-jumping for Obama; however, I don't quite know why I feel so bad for Bush. I guess it's just because he's a sad, broken man and that's really the only way I can bring myself to see him, not as some kind of blundering, evil, twiddling-his-mustache kind of machinater (not that he is really smart enough to machinate anything worthwhile in the first place).
Anyway.
Such is the state of things. Politics included.
Blech.
